OIL PAINTINGS

This kind of paintings are made with the use of oils. This technique allows for lots of freedom in choosing and combining oils, making the paintings matt or glossy, achieving the effect of half-transparency and color penetration as well as creating complex textures. The paint is applied in coats with the use of brushes or spatulas. Oil paint dries slowly, even up to ten days. The long drying period has its advantages and disadvantages. It may happen that it is necessary to wait for a part of a painting before continuing work on it. At present also water-thinned paints are available on sale. Oil paintings are characterised by long durability. Upon drying, the paint becomes hard and resistant to external factors.

All the paintings featured on this site have been painted on canvas placed on a stretcher.
